Gabby Allen, the winner of Love Island All Stars Season 2, has shared unexpected behind-the-scenes truths about the reality show, including that contestants often wake up at 4am to film scenes that make up only a few minutes of the final episode.
Behind-the-Scenes Realities of Love Island
In an exclusive interview, Gabby revealed that the filming of dumpings and recouplings takes hours. She explained, "Dumpings or recouplings always take hours. You're literally awake at 4 o'clock in the morning, especially if it's a public vote because they have to get all the votes in." Despite the lengthy preparation, the actual moment when Islanders are dumped occurs as swiftly in the villa as it does on screen, and the tears are genuinely heartfelt.
Strong Bonds Form Quickly
Gabby also addressed public criticism of contestants who cry after short stays, saying, "When people get dumped after it's only been a day or two, and people are crying... you build such strong relationships with people very quickly in there. I always kind of get my back up a little bit about that because I'm like 'No, these people actually care about each other and it's really hard to send somebody home.'" She emphasized that contestants wait weeks to enter the villa and nobody wants to leave.
Gabby's Journey with Scoliosis
Gabby joined us to raise awareness for Scoliosis Awareness Month, a condition she was diagnosed with at age 12. Scoliosis involves a sideways curvature of the spine, often requiring surgery. Gabby underwent spinal surgery as a pre-teen, leaving a noticeable scar that she once felt insecure about. Now, she proudly displays it and hopes to encourage others to feel comfortable revealing their own scars.
The latest season of Love Island is streaming now on ITVX.
