Emmerdale stars Matthew Wolfenden and Roxy Shahidi suffered significant financial losses during a repeat episode of BBC's Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, which originally aired in 2024. The pair, known for playing David Metcalfe and Leyla Harding respectively, scoured the Yorkshire Dales for vintage treasures alongside experts Hettie Jago and Steven Moore, hoping to turn a profit at auction.
Disastrous Auction Results
Matthew's first item, a vintage stereoscope purchased for £20, sold for just £7. Roxy's Derbyshire pietra dura paperweight, bought for £15, fetched only £14, prompting expert Steven to exclaim: "If this doesn't make a profit we were robbed because that's worth at least £100." After the sale, a devastated Steven confessed: "I need therapy."
Matthew's Art Deco rouge pot, costing £90, sold for a mere £16 after bidding started at £10. A shocked Matthew said: "I'm gobsmacked!" while Hettie covered her mouth in disbelief. Roxy's final item, a magic lantern purchased for £236, sold for only £30, resulting in a staggering loss.
Final Losses and Banter
At auction's end, Roxy and Steven suffered a loss of £284.38, while Matthew and Hettie lost £225.46, making Matthew the victor by losing less. Matthew taunted Roxy, asking: "Can you see the smile on my face?" Roxy retorted: "Yeah I can see it." When Matthew pressed further, Roxy admitted through gritted teeth: "That's because you won..." as Matthew celebrated.
