The Cannes Film Festival is wrapping up its twelve days of premieres and high fashion, leaving behind a parade of couture highlights and memorable moments. As the extravaganza concludes, we look back at the best and worst of the red carpet.
Gowns Bring Drama and Volume
Voluminous gowns were not favored by festival organizers, but that did not stop structural elegance from making an appearance. Cate Blanchett wore a Louis Vuitton gown with a frilly collar, while Sharon Stone swept along the red carpet in an oversized creation by Sophie Couture. Joan Collins also brought drama with a Stéphane Rolland gown that orbited her like a delicate origami flower. These looks were stunning outside the Palais but not ideal for cinema seating.
NSFW: Not Suitable for Walking
Some outfits impressed when standing still but failed once the wearer moved. Guests were seen tripping, crawling, or navigating the Palais steps sideways. Fashion victims were caught by tight dress trains, excessively high heels, and flying fabric strands in the breeze.
Demi Moore's Seemingly Bottomless Wardrobe
The jury members, including Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, and Chloé Zhao, attended daily premieres with varied styles. Moore switched up looks with off-the-shoulder lavender Gucci, a body-hugging Jacquemus gown, a dramatic shaggy fur from Gucci's Resort 2027 collection, and a huge hot-pink gown by Matières Fécales.
Honorable Mentions
Colman Domingo wore a caped, twinkly purple Valentino shirt; Blanchett sported backless floral Givenchy with tassels; Isabelle Huppert donned a delicate red Gucci gown; Ruth Negga chose black-and-white tuxedo tailoring; and Dita von Teese channeled Old Hollywood in Tamara Ralph Couture.
