Fans of the beloved CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory have received a major update about the latest spin-off series. HBO has confirmed that Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will premiere this summer, specifically in July 2026, on HBO Max.
Plot Details
The series focuses on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman. After breaking a device created by Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Stuart must restore reality to prevent a multiverse armageddon. He is joined by his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and quantum physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie). The group encounters alternate-universe versions of familiar characters from the original series.
Creative Team
The spin-off is written and produced by The Big Bang Theory co-creators Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and Zak Penn. First-look images show Stuart holding a device, a jungle-like landscape, and a conflict zone.
Background
This is the second spin-off from the multi-award-winning sitcom, following Young Sheldon, which ran for seven seasons from 2017 to 2024. No word yet on whether original cast members will reprise their roles.
