The BBC has announced star casting for its upcoming drama series 'Reputation', which explores the fallout of a celebrity legal battle spiralling out of control. Naomie Harris and Christina Hendricks will lead the cast, with Harris playing Lena, a formidable lawyer drawn into the celebrity case of the decade, representing global pop star Davina Knight, portrayed by Hendricks.
The plot follows Knight after she releases a provocative new song accusing her ex-husband Billy of abusive behaviour. He retaliates, turning their private breakdown into a very public libel battle, with PR machines deployed, laws bent, and social media platforms becoming judge, jury and battleground.
The ensemble cast includes Alex Jennings, David Gyasi, Emily Atack, Kyle Soller, Marli Siu, Alex Heath, Tilly Keeper, Corey Johnson, Aidan McArdle, Ernest Kingsley Jnr, Jodie Campbell, Kayla Meikle, Mike Noble, Enzo Cilenti and Kat Ronney. The series is created by Anya Reiss, known for 'Becoming Elizabeth', and produced by The Forge, the team behind 'The Buccaneers'.
'Reputation' (6x60) was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama. Alex Kazamia will produce, with BAFTA and RTS award winner Mahalia Belo directing. Executive producers are George Ormond, Jade Taylor, Reiss and Belo. Additional writers include Shyam Popat and Karla Crome. Banijay Rights will handle international distribution.
