Asa Butterfield and Jonny Lee Miller Join BBC's Beatles Drama Hamburg Days

Further casting has been announced for Hamburg Days, the six-part drama series about The Beatles' formative years. Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) will play manager Brian Epstein, while Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting) takes on the role of Jim McCartney, Paul's father. Christine Tremarco (Adolescence) joins as John Lennon's guardian Aunt Mimi.

Other new cast members include Darci Shaw as Cynthia Lennon, Ryan Sampson as promoter Alan Williams, Archie George as singer Tony Sheridan, Jorden Myrie as Lord Woodbine, Lea Drinda as Astrid Kirchherr, Tash Major as Dot Rhone, and Louis McCartney as Ringo Starr. They join previously announced actors Rhys Mannion (John Lennon), Ellis Murphy (Paul McCartney), Harvey Brett (George Harrison), Louis Landau (Stu Sutcliffe), Patrick Gilmore (Pete Best), and Casper von Bülow (Klaus Voormann).

Set in the early 1960s, Hamburg Days follows an inexperienced Liverpool band in Hamburg's St. Pauli red-light district, where they meet artists Klaus Voormann and Astrid Kirchherr. The series is created by showrunner Christian Schwochow and head writer Jamie Carragher, with music curated by BAFTA-winning producer David Holmes.

The series is currently filming in Hamburg, Munich and Liverpool. It will air in the UK on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, and is produced by W&B Television and Turbine Studios for German broadcaster ZDF.
