Andy Serkis supports son Louis at 28 Years Later premiere

Hollywood star Andy Serkis radiated paternal pride on Tuesday evening as he and his wife, actress Lorraine Ashbourne, attended the glittering premiere of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple in support of their son, Louis Ashbourne Serkis.

A Family Affair on the Red Carpet

The event, held in Waterloo, London, saw the 61-year-old actor, famed for his motion-capture roles, grinning broadly alongside his 21-year-old son. Louis features in the latest instalment of the popular horror franchise, portraying a character named Tom. Andy opted for a relaxed yet stylish look, wearing a blue patterned bomber jacket paired with dark chinos for the red carpet appearance.

His son, Louis, made a fashion statement in a maroon shirt and matching trousers, layered over a black T-shirt and accessorised with a silver necklace. Meanwhile, Lorraine Ashbourne, 65, looked elegant in a green and black houndstooth jacket, which she combined with a simple black dress and matching shoes.

Following in Famous Footsteps

Louis's journey into acting began early, with his first on-screen credit coming at a young age. In 2012, he appeared as a 'Cute Young Hobbit' in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a film that also featured his father's iconic return to the role of Gollum. This marked the start of his foray into the family business.

His career has since flourished. He voiced the wolf cub Bhoot in the 2018 film Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, which was directed by and co-starred his father. A significant breakthrough came in 2019 when Louis landed the lead role in The Kid Who Would Be King, acting alongside esteemed names like Sir Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson.

He further showcased his range with a role in the critically acclaimed Netflix series The Queen's Gambit, starring alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, and more recently played the troubled teen son of Martin Clunes's character in ITV's drama Out There.

The Serkis Acting Dynasty

Andy and Lorraine, who have been married since 2001, are clearly a supportive creative family. Louis is not their only child pursuing performance arts. His older sister, Ruby, 28, is an actress best known for Netflix's The Letter for the King, while his brother Sonny, 26, has also explored acting.

Despite the strong family connection to the industry, Louis has emphasised that his career path was a personal choice. In an interview with The Mirror earlier this year, he stated, 'I was never obliged to take part in what they do and they never forced it on me... But I love it, I have always loved entertaining and bringing joy through that.'

He added, 'I think if you get the opportunity to tell a story and to inspire people I think you should take it. I was young and in a way stumbled into acting, and tried it when I was around seven or eight.' The young actor is currently in a relationship with British equestrian-turned-stuntwoman Amelia Haynes.

The premiere of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple not only signalled the return of a major film franchise but also highlighted the continuing legacy of one of Britain's most talented acting families, with Louis Ashbourne Serkis firmly carving his own path in the spotlight.
