Detective drama enthusiasts are praising Martin Freeman for his exceptional performance in an ITV hit that is now available to stream at no cost. Plot and Cast
Freeman portrays Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher, the officer tasked with investigating a perplexing case. Despite personal and professional consequences, Fulcher remains resolute in catching the killer. The series is based on the heartbreaking true story of 22-year-old Sian O'Callaghan, who vanished in Swindon after leaving a nightclub in March 2011. Her body was discovered five days later near Uffington in Oxfordshire, and the killer, taxi driver Christopher Halliwell, was sentenced to life imprisonment. Halliwell is portrayed by Joe Absolom, known for his roles in Doc Martin and Emmerdale.

'A Confession' was filmed on location in Wiltshire, near Somerset, and the Home Counties, under the direction of Paul Andrew Williams, who previously worked on Broadchurch and Strangers. Behind the Scenes
Screenwriter Jeff Pope explained why the production team chose not to film at real-life locations connected to the case. He told Radio Times, "We felt there would be friends and family of Sian walking down the High Street and there we are, recreating the moment when she gets into Halliwell's car. The decision not to film there was at least partly because of sensitivity."
