Zendaya has revealed she is considering a break from acting after an exceptionally busy year that saw her star in five films and secretly marry Tom Holland. In a red carpet interview, the 29-year-old actress admitted she wants to 'disappear for a little bit' from the public eye.
A Whirlwind Year
The former Disney Channel star, now known for roles in 'Dune' and 'Euphoria', has had a packed 12 months. She filmed five movies, including Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey', and tied the knot with Holland, ending years of fan speculation. Now, with several of her films set for release in the coming months, Zendaya says she needs time to step back and catch her breath.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight reporter Emily Curl, Zendaya said: 'Oh girl, nothing. Just mind my business, you know? And stay to myself.' She described her current schedule as 'such a whirlwind' and added: 'You’re kind of like in a new place every second, and your brain is kind of all over the place. It’s fun and I’m grateful, and I wouldn’t change a thing, but sometimes you need to just, you know, disappear for a little bit.'
Landing a Role in 'The Odyssey'
Zendaya also opened up about how she landed her role in Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey'. Speaking to Jimmy Fallon, she revealed that her husband Tom Holland was first cast as Telemachus. After discovering a script for the film in their home, she couldn't resist peeking. 'I may have done a little, you know, peaky peak. I gotta know, there's a Christopher Nolan script in my house,' she said.
When Tom told her to read the script again, this time with the character Athena in mind, Zendaya was floored. 'I was like, 'Yo, stop it right now.' And I was just like, yeah I freaked out. I was so grateful that he got to be the one to tell me. It was so special,' she recounted.
Plans for Time Off
While promoting her husband's movie 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', Zendaya hinted at big plans for her time off, though she kept details vague. The actress emphasized the need for a break after a period of constant travel and work. 'Your brain is kind of all over the place,' she said, but expressed gratitude for her opportunities.
Zendaya's comments come as several other stars have spoken about the pressures of Hollywood and the importance of mental health breaks. With her upcoming projects and a new marriage, the actress seems ready to prioritize personal time.
