FIFA has announced a star-studded lineup for the first-ever half-time show at a World Cup final, set to take place during the break between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The show, curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, will feature performances by Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, and K-pop boyband BTS, among others.
Lineup and Duration
In addition to the headliners, Burna Boy—who co-recorded the official World Cup song 'Dai Dai' with Shakira—will perform live. Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus are also part of the show. FIFA president Gianni Infantino described it as a "groundbreaking spectacle" that will "celebrate football, music and our shared values."
The half-time show will last 11 minutes, with an additional six minutes for stage assembly and dismantling, making the total break 17 minutes—exceeding the IFAB's standard 15-minute interval. FIFA confirmed this arrangement to both finalist teams.
Broadcast and Closing Ceremony
Both BBC and ITV initially refused to air the half-time show, planning to focus on punditry, but later confirmed they will broadcast it. ITV will fit it around advertising breaks, while the BBC will interrupt pundits' analysis.
A separate closing ceremony will take place 90 minutes before kick-off, headlined by Post Malone, with Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams, and Laura Pausini. YouTube creator IShowSpeed and Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise will make cameo appearances.
