William Shown Why He Can't Trust Harry After Interview

Prince Harry's latest interview with GQ has reinforced to Prince William that he cannot trust his brother, according to royal reporter Jasmine Carey. The interview, which touched on family "drama," comes after years of public airing of private matters by the Duke of Sussex.

Trust can take years to build and seconds to lose, a saying that applies to the relationship between William and Harry. Once considered close brothers who shared the unusual experience of growing up in royalty and dealing with serious life events together, the pair have drifted apart significantly over recent years.

Years of Tension and Public Revelations

Tensions existed before Harry married Meghan Markle in 2020, but escalated after the couple quit royal duty that same year. The trust between the brothers was lost when Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in 2021, revealing family drama to the public.

Following that interview, the brothers' relationship continued to deteriorate. In 2022, Harry and Meghan released a Netflix docuseries, which they described as their chance to tell their side of the story. Then in 2023, Harry published his memoir Spare, which portrayed William negatively and aired private conversations and moments from within the Royal Family.

Another Blow for William

According to Carey, the brothers have shared few words since 2023. Although Harry's relocation to the UK could have opened a fresh opportunity for reconciliation, his new interview with GQ has quashed any chance of improving relations with his older brother.

The interview, which mentioned family rifts, was another blow for William, who is reportedly tired of his brother airing family matters in public. According to Harry's team, the comments were not aimed at his royal relatives, but the interview still provided another reason for William not to trust Harry.

Risk of Future Interviews

Carey argues that if the brothers were to reconcile, there would be no guarantee that Harry would not give another interview in the future, potentially revealing more private information. This risk is one that William, who values his privacy, is not prepared to take.

The relationship between William and Harry demonstrates that trust can make or break relationships, and without it, maintaining a relationship becomes difficult.
