Will Best 'ignores' Josh Widdicombe as he 'eyes up' Strictly job

Body language expert Judi James has suggested that Will Best may be eyeing up Josh Widdicombe's presenting role on Strictly Come Dancing, claiming the Big Brother host is suffering from "FOMO" — a fear of missing out on his job as a presenter.

Will, 41, currently hosts Big Brother on ITV alongside AJ Odudu and is also competing on this year's Strictly as a contestant. He danced with professional partner Dianne Buswell during the first live show, showing promising signs of victory.

Strictly returned in September with new presenters Emma Willis, professional dancer Johannes Radebe and comedian Josh, following the departure of longtime hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.

Body language signals

Speaking to Paddy Power Bingo, Judi said: "Will seems to be suffering from FOMO: a fear of missing out on his job as a presenter."

She added: "Dianne's upright finger of authority during training appears used to keep him focused on her but there are several signs to suggest that not only does he see himself in presenter role but that he might secretly have his eyes on the spot currently taken by Josh."

Judi noted that as Will took the judges' feedback, he put one hand out to place it on Emma's shoulder, "as though he was the one working with her." She said he halted the gesture in mid-air, but it showed "how close he naturally feels to that role at present."

'Ignore' of Josh

Judi also observed that Will appeared to ignore Josh during the show. She said: "There was also an intriguing 'ignore' of Josh. As Will stood, chin raised, joining in with Emma and the judges, Josh suddenly walked across to straighten Will's vest and then cover his pecs with his hands for an embarrassingly long time."

She added: "This very intimate ritual should have stopped Will in his tracks and made him joke with Josh but instead he ignored the gesture rather than joining in the gag as though Josh was just some naughty child."

Judi also pointed out that Will looked straight into the camera later, which she described as "really the move only a presenter would make."
