Why Diddly Squat Farm Shop Was Missing from Clarkson's Farm Season 5
Why Diddly Squat Farm Shop Missed Clarkson's Farm Season 5

While Clarkson's Farm fans are still processing the season five finale of the hit Prime Video series, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a major attraction was missing: Jeremy Clarkson's Diddly Squat farm shop. Since season one, the opening of the farm shop had been a central storyline, with doors finally opening in episode three. Alongside partner Lisa Hogan, Clarkson set up the rustic store to sell local, non-organic produce, stocking everything from potatoes and marrows to daily-picked eggs. The shop became extremely popular, with fans travelling far and wide to buy the fruits of his harvest and hopefully glimpse the TV star.

Farm Shop Runs Smoothly in Background

Unlike earlier seasons, the farm shop appears to be running smoothly in the background and does not feature in season five. The central focus shifted to Clarkson's health and high-tech farming tools. Fans questioned this on Reddit, with one asking: "Did it close? I can't remember seeing anything of it on season 5."

One user responded: "Jeremy has the farm shop all set up, it's operating day to day without issue, there's nothing terribly chaotic or messy about it, there's really no entertainment value to milk from it." Another echoed: "This been up and running normally for like 2 seasons now with nothing new. Nothing to really highlight with it other than the popularity, really."

"It's running fine - they can't force something to go wrong for the sake of TV," suggested a third. A Redditor explained: "My guess is that they don't need to. It wasn't a main subject. It was shown so much initially because it was a main goal/topic. But now it's safe from the council, and they've got the farmshop at the pub, which is arguably bigger, there's no need to keep showing it. Season 5 focused more on new farming techniques, which is good."

New Faces and Health Scare Take Centre Stage

In addition to new farming techniques, series five introduced a new team member, Charlotte Kingham. The 22-year-old head butcher became central to the show as Clarkson wanted to learn more about navigating pub operations. She advised on meat viability at Hops and Chops, the butchers inside the famous Grand Tour tent, and assisted with farm tasks like building bonfires.

The latest instalment kicked off with an unexpected challenge: Clarkson suffered a major heart scare moments into episode one, forcing him to confront his mortality and scale back on manual labour. Things worsened by the penultimate episode, as the Top Gear icon told Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland that he had been diagnosed with cancer. Fortunately, in the months since the emotional episode, the 66-year-old announced he is in remission from prostate cancer after early detection during a routine check-up in May 2025.
