Who Is Emmerdale's Serena Sugden? New Arrival Warns She'll Be 'Hated'

Serena Sugden makes her debut in Emmerdale this week, played by actress Casey Al-Shaqsy. The character arrives in the village and immediately gets involved with Charity Dingle, offering support at a lakeside scene. However, Charity, dealing with her own turmoil involving Dr Todd and her daughter Leyla, does not welcome Serena's help initially.

After a conversation, Charity opens up about her experiences, including handing Leyla to Jacob and Sarah. Serena then heads into the village to reunite with Sarah Sugden, setting the stage for future conflict.

Actress Warns Viewers Will 'Hate' Serena

Casey Al-Shaqsy has warned that Serena will be a divisive character. She said: "So Serena as a person, I’d say she puts her foot in her mouth quite a lot. She’s quite loud and a little bit outspoken. I do think there’s elements of both good and bad in her. She’s come into a lovely family situation. Or is it lovely? You’ll see."

Producer Teases Gripping Storylines

Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw added: "The Sugdens are a core part of the Emmerdale fabric, and we are thrilled to welcome Casey to the family. Her character will be at the heart of some extremely gripping and unexpected storylines, forcing her to make difficult choices that will have dramatic consequences for some of the village's biggest names."

Serena's arrival promises to shake up the Sugden family dynamics, with the actress hinting at trouble ahead.
