Victoria Beckham's fun side revealed by David's ex-teammates
Victoria Beckham's fun side revealed by ex-teammates

Victoria Beckham's public image as icy and formal is contradicted by accounts from several of her husband David's former teammates, including Wayne Rooney. According to these sources, Victoria is approachable and easy-going, a stark contrast to her 'Posh Spice' persona from the Spice Girls.

Rooney recalls casual dinner at Beckhams' home

Rooney, who played alongside David for England for six years, spoke about meeting the ex-pop star on his podcast. He recalled visiting the Beckhams' home during David's Real Madrid spell in the mid-2000s, expecting fine dining but finding a far more down-to-earth evening.

"I remember years ago we got invited to Becks' for dinner. It was me, Lamps [Frank Lampard] and a couple more players," Rooney said. "We went to his house, me and Coleen, we were only 19 or something. We were like, 'This is weird, what's happening here?' We sat there with Becks and Victoria having dinner, it was like… [it wasn't posh]… we were having kebabs. She's such a lovely woman and funny. A lot funnier than people think."

Bouncy castle incident at birthday party

Another account came from Carlos Pavon Jr., whose father once played alongside Beckham at LA Galaxy. Back in 2007, the Beckhams hosted a birthday bash for one of their sons, complete with an inflatable bouncy castle.

Pavon Jr., then 12 years old, said he was jumping about with one of the Beckham children when Victoria unexpectedly joined in. "I notice the kid's mum comes in, David's wife, Victoria," he said on the La Pelota Al DIEZ podcast. "She started jumping with us, and I was like, 'I can't believe I'm doing this with Victoria Beckham.' So I think that was the funniest thing. Everybody saw when she came in and started jumping with us, so when I came out, I think they all saw my surprised face, like, 'Wow, that just happened.' It was really funny."

Victoria's career and family life

Victoria has remained a recognisable figure ever since exploding onto the music scene with the Spice Girls in 1996. Following the group's dissolution in 2001, she moved into fashion and launched her inaugural label in 2008, later expanding her brand to include luxury accessories.

Victoria's relationship with Real Madrid idol David has also endured, with the pair remaining one of the world's most powerful and wealthy couples for nearly 30 years. They went on to have four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. The secret to their longevity is perhaps in the lighter moments that Rooney and Pavon Jr. discussed with David, previously admitting that it's his wife's humour that keeps their decades-long marriage thriving.
