Vanessa Blanca Dead: Singer Dies Aged 30 After Home Accident

Vanessa Blanca, the pop singer who rose to fame as a member of GMA's musical group Sugarpop and later as a solo artist with the hit track Dota o Ako, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the age of 30. Her cousin Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag confirmed the news in a Facebook post, paying tribute to the star, who first gained prominence on the TV show Popstar Kids.

Cause of Death Confirmed

In a statement, Ivy explained that the star “tripped and fell” while getting dressed in the bathroom, striking her head. “Vanessa sustained severe traumatic brain injury resulting in an internal brain hemorrhage following an accidental fall,” Ivy revealed. “Despite the efforts made to secure urgent medical assistance and bring her to the hospital, Vanessa sadly passed away.”

Emergency services were called but failed to arrive within 15 minutes, so she was taken to hospital in a wheelchair by her “companions.” Despite the efforts of medics, it was too late to save her.

Tributes From Fellow Musicians and Fans

Her fellow former Sugarpop members Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario and Cholo Bismonte were among the first to share their grief, posting her obituary and wake details via their respective Instagram pages. San Jose lamented: “Still can’t believe it. Plano pa naman natin mag-reunion. Sugarpop will never be the same without you. Rest in heaven, Wani.”

A Facebook user shared: “I'm sorry to hear this, I might not know her personally but my heart goes out to the immediate family, this is so tragic, my prayers and may she rest in peace. Hugs to you.” A third chimed in: “Rest in Peace po. Isa sa mga pinaka magandang ambag na tumatak sa Dota dito sa Pinas. Salamat po!” A fourth commented: “...My heart bleeds knowing this tragic accident. Condolence to all your bereaving family especially to ate Felma.”

Family's Request for Privacy

Alongside images of the star, Ivy wrote: “It is with the heaviest heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of my beloved first cousin and little sister, Vanessa Blanca Quillo Rangadhol, who tragically passed away today, August 19, 2026, following an accident at the condominium where she was staying in Manila. At this painful time, we humbly ask everyone to please give her immediate family, especially her mother and loved ones, the time, space, and privacy they need to mourn and grieve.”
