Kyra Samson, a production coordinator for hit shows including The Traitors and Jeopardy!, died at the age of 28 on June 23 after a nine-month and 11-day fight against glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Her father, podcaster David Samson, confirmed the news in an emotional Instagram post, revealing the family has established a charity fund in her name.
Father Confirms Death and Launches Charity Fund
David Samson posted a photo of Kyra smiling during a picnic, writing: "Yesterday, my daughter, Kyra, passed away peacefully after a 9 month and 11 day fight against one of the cruelest diseases I’ve ever seen up close. She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, specifically Glioblastoma." He added: "Kyra was a 28-year-old young woman who loved deeply and who is impossible to describe in 280 characters. While her life got stolen from her, she handled these months with courage, poise, and resolve."
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The Kyra Fund, which supports glioblastoma research. The fund is hosted on the Glioblastoma Research Organization's website.
Career in Television Production
Kyra began her career as a production assistant before rising to production manager at Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen. She later moved to Los Angeles to become production coordinator for live events at Jeopardy! She also led production for BravoCon and the Season 1 reunion of The Traitors.
According to The Athletic, her diagnosis came after Jeopardy! executive producer Michael Davies noticed her symptoms and alerted her father. David Samson first shared the health news during a September 2025 episode of his podcast, saying: "I've been gone for two weeks as my family has been dealing with a critical situation. I have a daughter who is seriously ill, and it came out of nowhere."
Personal Life and Tributes
At the time of her death, Kyra was engaged to William Truesdel, her college sweetheart of eight years. Andy Cohen paid a tearful tribute on Watch What Happens Live, saying: "During her four wonderful years with us, Kyra was known for her sweet smile and gentle demeanour, but she could also be a small but mighty enforcer. To see Kyra on a bullhorn corralling massive crowds at BravoCon was truly a sight to behold. She’s going to be terribly missed by all of us here."
Jeopardy! also remembered her in a Facebook post: "We are devastated by the tragic loss of Kyra Samson, a beloved member of the Jeopardy! team. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones during this very difficult time."
