Tony Adams Reveals Heart Surgery in Azerbaijan Saved His Life

Tony Adams has revealed that he underwent minor heart surgery in Azerbaijan, an operation the former Arsenal captain said saved his life. The 49-year-old, who serves as director of football at Gabala in Azerbaijan, sought medical attention after experiencing acute chest pain while exercising.

Adams was admitted to the Medical Plaza hospital in Baku, where an angiogram revealed a severely blocked vein, leading to immediate angioplasty. He praised the medical team, stating, “The brilliant surgeons at the Medical Plaza did a fantastic job – as has been reiterated to me by my cardiologist in the UK. I know full well that without the brilliance of Dr Uzeyir Rahimov and his team I would not be alive now: a minor heart operation saved my life.”

Adams urged others with a family history of heart disease to seek medical advice if they experience chest pains. He is currently recuperating with his family in the UK, while Gabala travel to face Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday.
