McFly star Tom Fletcher will perform live on television for the first time with his 11-year-old son Buzz during the BBC Children in Need 2025 Appeal Show on Friday 14 November. The duo will be accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra as they sing 'Thread of Hope', a song written by Tom for the upcoming animated film 'Pudsey and the Thread of Hope'.
The song will debut on BBC Radio 2's Breakfast Show with Scott Mills at 8am on Thursday 13 November, followed by a sneak preview of the animation on BBC Breakfast at 8.30am. During the Appeal Show, an exclusive clip of the film will air alongside their live performance.
'Pudsey and the Thread of Hope' is a 25-minute animated film for CBeebies, coming to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this December. The story follows a young boy named Jai navigating grief after losing his father, as he embarks on a journey of healing with Pudsey. It highlights the importance of positive relationships in young people's lives.
Tom Fletcher said: 'Sharing that moment together will be so incredibly meaningful, especially as it celebrates Pudsey’s 40-year legacy.' Buzz added: 'I am so excited to be performing alongside my dad for the first time on TV... I feel really proud to be standing beside him for such a brilliant cause.'
The song and animation are accompanied by a paperback picture book by Tom Fletcher, published by Puffin. For every copy sold in the UK and Ireland, £1 will be donated to BBC Children in Need.
