Olympic diver Tom Daley has spoken candidly about the 20-year age gap between him and his husband, Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. The couple, who married in 2017, first met in 2013 when Daley was 18 and Black was 38.
Daley, now 31, described their first meeting as 'love at first sight', despite initially having no idea who Black was. 'When you fall in love, you fall in love,' he said, defending the age difference. He also told US Weekly that he is the 'more mature' person in their relationship, adding: 'As we get older, I think we both align very well on what we want to achieve.'
The couple have two sons, Robert 'Robbie' Ray Black-Daley, born in 2018, and Pheonix Rose Black-Daley, born in 2023, both via surrogacy. Daley retired from diving last year after winning five Olympic medals, including a gold, across five Games.
Daley is set to appear in the upcoming celebrity series of The Traitors, alongside other famous faces such as Alan Carr, Charlotte Church and Joe Marler.
