An anonymous man has claimed to be a time traveller who returned from the year 3311, presenting three photographs as evidence. However, viewers were quick to point out that the images are edited fakes.
Claims of a Secret Mission
Speaking on YouTube channel ApexTV, the man said he had an "extremely interesting story" to share, encompassing both his past and future. He stated: "What I am telling you is true and I even have the evidence to prove it."
The first photo appeared to show a futuristic city on a levitating landmass in the sky. The man claimed: "This was not the only picture I took in the future. I got into the teleportation machine again but this time it brought me to a very different place and I took a picture of that place as well. Let me show you that picture."
He then revealed a second image of a structure, which he said was a typical home in the distant future, and a third showing a flying vehicle above houses and trees.
Photos Are Doctored
The time traveller said he was selected for a covert time travel operation in the 1990s, partly due to his achievements in computer development at school. He insisted that time travel was solved through quantum computing. He added: "I can't say the name of that organisation but I can assure you that organisations like the one I'm describing, and many many more, not only exist but are carrying out secret programmes behind closed doors."
However, all three images are manipulations of existing photographs. The first is a doctored version of a mountain forest valley wallpaper from 7-themes.com, with a hovering city superimposed. The second is a modified photo of the Antilia building, the private home of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani in South Mumbai, India.
Viewers See Through the Ruse
Many viewers exposed the hoax in the comments. YouTube user Mike Mathieu said: "These 'pictures' look about as real as Japanese animation." Vignesh Baidu commented: "Next time at least take a selfie so that we can clarify it's not photoshopped." Richard Labeja noted: "The pictures look fake, especially the floating city. There perspectives, lighting and contrast look severely inaccurate."
Can Humans Time Travel?
According to Professor William Hiscock of Montana State University, time travel into the past is "a much more uncertain proposition." He explained that time-dilation effects allow forward travel, but backward travel remains unclear. He said: "There are many solutions to Einstein's equations of General Relativity that allow a person to follow a timeline that would result in her (or him) encountering herself - or her grandmother - at an earlier time. The problem is deciding whether these solutions represent situations that could occur in the real universe, or whether they are mere mathematical oddities incompatible with known physics."
