A former contestant on The Voice has tragically passed away at the age of 28, only days after sharing a poignant final message with her followers on social media. Kim Yoon-seol died on 7 June, and while the cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, her funeral has already taken place, with her final resting place at Seongnam Yeongsaengwon.
Friend Confirms the Heartbreaking News
The devastating news was confirmed by a close friend on social media, who wrote: 'Seol has gone to heaven.' The friend explained that they were unable to share the news earlier because Kim's phone and other contact accounts had been deactivated. They added: 'Her phone and other things were all locked, so I couldn't share anything, so I'm sharing this on Instagram. Please come visit so that Seol isn't lonely.'
Kim Jae Guk, lead vocalist of the group Takapi, also shared the news on social media: 'Kim Yun Seol, who appeared with me on Sing Again 4 as the sixth singer, has passed away. May she rest in peace.'
Rise to Fame
Kim first rose to prominence in 2013 when she released the single 'Man and Woman 2013' and won the Mnet reality programme Boys Kids. She later appeared on The Voice Korea in 2020, as well as the popular singing reality show I Can See Your Voice (series 7) and Sing Again.
Kim had been quiet on social media since 23 May, when she posted a touching note on Instagram: 'I am now singing again under my own name. I hope that wherever my songs reach, a little happiness will reach as well.'
Other Recent Losses in The Voice Family
The sad news follows the death of another The Voice star, Dylan Carter, who appeared on the American edition of the programme. He died at the age of 24 in a devastating car accident in April. The country music artist, originally from South Carolina, featured on series 24 of the reality show in 2023. His passing was confirmed by the charity he established to support women battling cancer, The Local Voice.
In February, The Voice UK star Dean Franklin also passed away at the age of 36. The performer, who was coached by Paloma Faith on the programme in 2016, had been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer just eight weeks before his death. His family shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, writing: 'I never wanted to share this news with you all so soon. As a family, we are truly heartbroken to announce that our precious boy, who fought so courageously for over 8 weeks and 3 days, passed away at 21.39pm last night...'
