Tess Daly and Vernon Kay split surprises showbiz expert

Tess Daly and Vernon Kay announced their separation in May after 22 years of marriage, and showbiz expert Jennie Buzaglo has expressed surprise at how the couple have continued to support each other publicly since then.

The pair, who married in September 2003 and share two children, released a joint statement at the time of their split, saying they had decided to separate amicably. They emphasised their commitment to co-parenting and requested privacy during the transition.

Public gestures of support

Since the announcement, both have continued to show support for each other on social media, liking posts and leaving comments. Vernon even shared a video of Tess and her business partner Gayle Lawton promoting their swimwear brand Naia Beach, writing: "@naiabeach making moves! Congratulations on another awesome collection."

The former couple also reunited to celebrate their daughter Phoebe's 22nd birthday, with Tess sharing a photo of the three of them together on Instagram.

A refreshing approach to separation

Buzaglo noted that while many celebrity splits are described as amicable, it is rare to see couples maintain such visible friendship. She observed that these small gestures suggest a willingness to continue showing up for each other despite the change in their relationship.

The expert reflected that the real surprise may not be that Tess and Vernon have stayed friends, but that society has become so accustomed to expecting the opposite.
