Taylor Swift has made a rare podcast appearance on the New Heights show, hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, revealing details about their relationship and her long-running battle to regain control of her music catalogue.
Swift described Kelce's initial approach as a 'wild, romantic gesture', after he publicly declared his interest in dating her on the podcast two years ago. However, she joked that he 'never did any proper logistical planning' to meet her at Arrowhead Stadium, relying instead on a contact to reach her dressing room. 'This felt more like I was in an 80s John Hughes movie,' she said, adding that his blunt announcement intrigued her because she is 'genuinely terrified to open my DMs'.
Addressing the intense public speculation about their relationship, Swift said she has learned to ignore it after 20 years in the music industry. 'It's pretty hard to hurt my feelings at this point,' she noted. Kelce said he has learned from her 'how to be a pro about it', and Swift added that finding humour in the theories helps: 'My name can be in the actual headline and it can still be none of my business.'
The singer also discussed the physical demands of her Eras tour, comparing her preparation—running on a treadmill while singing the entire show—to the rigours of American football. 'I'm not getting hit by huge 300-pounders, but the heels…' she said. Kelce agreed, noting the similarities in their recovery routines: 'She does more than I do.'
In an emotional segment, Swift revealed she had been saving to buy back the master recordings of her first six albums since she was a teenager. After the rights were sold to Scooter Braun and later to Shamrock Capital, she sent her mother and brother—not lawyers—to negotiate the purchase. 'It really ripped my heart out of my chest' each time it was sold, she said, crying. The deal was finalised in May, giving her control over her entire catalogue for the first time.
