Fox 2 Detroit news anchor Taryn Asher was dismissed from her job after a leaked video captured her in a heated outburst moments before a live broadcast. She has since filed a discrimination claim against the station, alleging unequal treatment.
Footage Shows Heated Exchange
Investigative journalist Taryn Asher was seen calling the show's executive producer a "b***h" in the leaked video from December 2023. She later exclaimed: "What the f***," after being given instructions by the director.
The incident followed a tense exchange in which the now-dismissed anchor appeared to make an error, causing confusion over who should speak. She stated: "I'm going to have to do that again."
Escalation in the Studio
When a crew member replied: "I think you're in a script," Taryn shot back: "I am, I'm in Amy's script, the Amy's angels one." She clarified: "The second thing didn't make sense, so I was just trying to fix that part," to which the unseen producer responded: "That's not even our job, we're still working."
Before the producer could finish, Taryn interjected: "I know. But I didn't have time because we have to do this, so I was still reading it." The situation escalated when the producer asked: "Could you let me finish, please?" As the row continued, Taryn hit back: "I don't think you are, you're walking out of here really angry," before turning back to the camera and labelling the producer a "b***h."
Aftermath and Legal Action
As the producer appeared to leave the room, voices could be heard, with one querying: "What the hell is going on here?" The presenter then mocked: "Can I please finish what I was going to say?" She added: "What the f***k, grow up." Despite being touched up by wardrobe, Taryn raged: "I'm so done with her antics. Telling on me every five seconds, I'm done."
Although the outburst occurred last year, the footage was shared across social media after being published by TMZ. Taryn, who was sacked this year for "unprofessional behaviour," is now reportedly embroiled in a legal battle with her employer over workplace discrimination. According to local media, the news anchor was cautioned about the outburst in December 2023 and was eventually removed from the air last November. In May, she received a letter telling her she had been dismissed.
The 38-year-old then allegedly launched a lawsuit in June, claiming to be the victim of gender discrimination, and re-filed it the following month. Taryn last posted on social media six months ago and addressed her absence from Fox 2, thanking fans for their support. She wrote: "Right now, I'm working to thoughtfully resolve a work-related matter that was unexpected, and I appreciate your patience and understanding as that process continues. I truly believe that, in time, things have a way of becoming clear." She later added: "Thank you for standing by me. Thank you for caring. And thank you for your continued support."
