Fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow has broken her silence in a deeply personal interview, detailing the immense challenges of experiencing her divorce from Matt Zukowski under the glare of public scrutiny.
The Emotional Toll of a Public Split
Speaking on her sister Emilee Hembrow's Nova podcast, Let's Be Real, alongside her other sister Amy, the 31-year-old mother-of-three did not hold back. She confessed that managing the end of her marriage, which was announced just five months ago in an emotional TikTok video, has been an intensely difficult process.
'Dealing with my divorce and everything so publicly is really difficult because there's so many different emotions,' Hembrow revealed. She described the experience as both 'humiliating' and 'heartbreaking', admitting that despite her picture-perfect Instagram feed, she was struggling to cope in the aftermath of the split from the 30-year-old reality star.
'I honestly haven't coped,' she stated. 'In the beginning, I really was not coping well with it and I feel like it's definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things, especially future relationships.'
A New, Frustrating Outlook on Love and Dating
This shift in perspective is something Hembrow finds 'frustrating'. While she still holds onto dreams of finding love, she is acutely aware that her status as a public figure complicates every move she makes.
'Even if I just go on a date, it's everywhere. And it's really frustrating to deal with that,' she explained. However, the influencer is trying to adopt a more resilient mindset, adding, 'But I just need to not care what people think because at the end of the day, every experience is a learning experience, and I'm just trying to learn and grow from this experience.'
The couple's relationship moved at a rapid pace. They got engaged in December 2023 after a whirlwind three months of dating and tied the knot almost a year later in November 2024. Their marriage, however, was short-lived, lasting only seven months before rumours of a split began to circulate earlier this year.
Looking to the Future
In her original TikTok announcement in June, a tearful Hembrow took responsibility for the breakup, stating, 'Obviously when you marry someone, you do it thinking that it is going to be forever and I blame no one but myself.' She expressed particular anguish over the impact on her children, saying, 'I don't care about me, I know I will be ok but I feel awful.'
Since the separation, Hembrow has been linked to AFL star Bailey Smith, with the pair spotted on several dates together, further fuelling media interest in her personal life. Her candid podcast discussion marks a significant step in her journey to reclaim her narrative after a highly publicised personal upheaval.
