Strictly Come Dancing star Will Best has announced the birth of his first child with partner Tobi Rose. The 41-year-old, best known as the co-host of Big Brother, shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, posting a carousel of photos showing off his newborn son, Sonny Best.
Announcement and photos
The post opened with a video of Best jokingly showing off a “really cool new thing I got today” before panning the camera to reveal his son. Additional photos showed Best and Rose cradling their infant, along with a picture of Sonny in a car seat carrier covered in a pastel yellow blanket embroidered with the word “lovely”.
In the caption, Best wrote: “Well who do we have here then?! Welcome to the world Sonny Best, you little smasher. @tobiroseofficial you’re a miracle and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide) but oh my goodness aren’t we lucky.”
Congratulatory messages
The comments were filled with congratulations from fellow Strictly stars, including his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell, who welcomed her first child with YouTuber Joe Sugg earlier this year. Buswell wrote: “Yay I’m so happy for you and Tobi, and Bowie is so excited to meet little Sonny.”
Fleur East, who co-hosts the Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Best, commented: “Awww yay!!! Welcome Sonny Best! So excited for you! Congratulations to you and Tobi. Hope you’re all doing well. Go and smash it on that ballroom floor for your little family!”
Other well-wishers included Strictly judge Oti Mabuse, fellow contestants Dame Sarah Storey, Graeme Hall and John Nellis, as well as Strictly – It Takes Two host Ellie Taylor and social media star GK Barry.
Background and upcoming performance
Best had announced he was expecting his first child earlier this year in an Instagram post recapping his summer, which featured a mirror selfie with his fiancee, her growing baby bump visible. He has been in a relationship with Rose for almost 15 years and proposed to the stylist during a romantic getaway to Italy in 2024.
Best has worked as a broadcaster for more than 15 years, starting on T4 before appearing on This Morning, BBC Three and Viva. He also recently won Celebrity Mastermind with the specialist subject of Rivals star Danny Dyer.
Currently starring in the latest series of Strictly, Best will return to the ballroom floor this Saturday with partner Buswell, dancing a jive to Crocodile Rock by Sir Elton John. He joined the show in July, describing the gig at the time as “an absolute dream”.
