BBC Snog Marry Avoid Star Reveals Anxiety Cost Her TV Opportunities
Snog Marry Avoid Star Missed Love Island Due to Anxiety

Sophie Bow, who appeared on BBC's Snog Marry Avoid at age 19, has revealed that severe anxiety forced her to turn down multiple television opportunities, including a casting for the first series of Love Island.

From Makeunder to Missed Chances

Bow underwent a dramatic 'makeunder' on the popular BBC Three show, which featured the robotic style guru POD (Personal Overhaul Device). Instead of a makeover, participants were convinced that less is more. The programme, hosted by Jenny Frost and later Ellie Taylor, ran from 2008 to December 2013 across six series.

Now 33, Bow has built a career as a social media content creator. In a TikTok video, she reflected on how the show helped her career but also revealed the opportunities she missed due to anxiety.

Cast for Love Island but Held Back

Bow disclosed: "After being on that show, I did actually get casted for the first ever Love Island but I was in a relationship. I've always been in a relationship so I never went on the show."

However, her relationship was not the only factor. She explained: "But there have been so many opportunities that I actually did miss out on - throughout my life because I do have anxiety - I suffer badly with anxiety. I don't really know what triggered it but I do get quite bad anxiety. Even to this day I get asked on brand trips or anything outside my comfort zone, if I'm not going with somebody I can't."

Life Now and Social Media Comeback

The influencer continued: "I really need to push myself to do more. I have a little boy and he is the best thing ever so I did take a little break from social media for a little while but then I did go back into social media. I did lose quite a lot of following from having the break then I started a TikTok account and here I am."

Bow, now a mother, is rebuilding her online presence after a hiatus. She remains open about her anxiety struggles, hoping to inspire others facing similar challenges.
