Saturday Night Live UK star Paddy Young has been rushed to hospital after cutting his finger with a samurai sword, leaving him with a lacerated tendon — but the comedian kept fans laughing with a typically witty response.

Television personality Paddy Young, who recently gained prominence as part of Sky's Saturday Night Live cast, shared the shocking update on social media. Alongside photographs from his hospital bed and throughout his recuperation, the 34-year-old disclosed: "Cut my finger with a samurai sword!" He continued: "Thank you, Bebe Ed Horatio, for breastfeeding me back to good health. Thank you, Sam, for bringing the sword to my home and running away when I fainted."
With characteristic wit, Paddy quipped: "Fringe run 90% sold out. Tendon 90% lacerated. Aura 100% lost. Tour selling fast - see u there."

One image showed the performer grinning from his hospital bed despite his entire left hand being heavily bandaged. Additional pictures captured Paddy alongside worried friends while sporting a sling, his sense of humour clearly intact.
Despite appearing to be on the mend, concerned supporters flooded the comments section with messages of support. One wrote: "Nooooooooooo! ! ! ! ! Hope you will feel better soon, Paddy." Another responded: "Man, those compression socks are the worst! Get well soon, Paddy."
"This is a very chill response to a friend causing you to lose the use of your hand," observed one follower. A fourth contributed: "Omg get better soon bud, we miss you on our TV screens on Saturday nights, good luck with touring."

Meanwhile, SNL UK director Will Ferrell quipped: "Sam told me he thought the sword wouldn't have cut you if you were honourable."
Paddy Young's Role on SNL UK
Paddy has joined forces with fellow cast members Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, and Emma Sidi on the British version of SNL.
Notwithstanding its divisive debut, SNL UK has secured a second series, with the news officially breaking in May. As reported by Deadline, the satirical sketch programme is set to return with a further 12 episodes, scheduled to broadcast in autumn 2026.
Executive producer Lorne Michaels, who launched the original American version back in 1975, commented: "I'm incredibly proud of our team and the show. It keeps getting better every week. I'm grateful to [Sky Group CEO] Dana Strong and Sky for believing in and supporting SNL UK. I'm excited for the season ahead."
The flagship SNL continues to enjoy phenomenal success and is widely acknowledged as the springboard that propelled numerous celebrated comedians into acting careers. Notable alumni include Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Bill Murray, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
