Sienna Miller Speaks Out on Age-Gap Relationships and Societal Perceptions
British actress Sienna Miller has openly discussed the persistent societal fascination with relationships where the woman is older than the man, describing such dynamics as "still fetishised" rather than normalised. This commentary comes amid her own romance with actor Oli Green, who is fifteen years her junior.
A Personal Perspective on Age Disparity
Miller, aged forty-four, and Green, twenty-nine, began dating in 2021 and welcomed their first daughter together in 2023. The actress is currently expecting their second child. Reflecting on her early career in an interview with Grazia magazine, Miller recalled auditioning to play the love interest of a forty-five-year-old actor when she was just twenty-one.
"Things have moved on since then, but the idea of an older woman with a younger man, for example, is still fetishised rather than normalised - there's a disparity there that I would love to see disappear," she stated, emphasising her desire for greater societal acceptance.
Navigating Pregnancy and Family Life
Miller announced her current pregnancy in December 2025, debuting her baby bump at The Fashion Awards. She shared details about her cravings, noting, "I'm hooked on vinegary things at the moment," alongside indulging in peanut butter and jam on toast. The actress also lamented the prospect of experiencing postpartum hair loss again, joking about regrowth being interrupted.
Looking ahead, Miller expressed excitement about taking time off this year to focus on her children. She is also mother to thirteen-year-old daughter Marlowe from her previous relationship with actor Tom Sturridge, with whom she maintains an amicable co-parenting relationship, describing Sturridge as her "best friend."
Reflections on Love and Generational Differences
In a prior interview with Harper's Bazaar, Miller revealed that her relationship with Green developed unexpectedly. "I didn't expect to take it seriously and then quite quickly, I fell in love," she explained, adding humorously, "I wasn't like, 'I'm gonna get a younger boyfriend.' It was more, 'F***! Why are you young? That's so annoying.'"
She praised Green's character, noting generational shifts in attitudes. "There is a difference in the way that generation of men respect women. It's specific to him, he is very wise and well-adjusted, but I do believe it's also that generation," Miller observed. "They have grown up with a slightly more level playing field. I see it in his female friends as well as in the men."
Career Resurgence and Critical Acclaim
Miller's career has seen a significant resurgence in 2024, marking a return to the spotlight after earlier breakthrough roles in films like Layer Cake and Alfie two decades ago. Just five months after giving birth, she attended the Cannes Film Festival to promote Kevin Costner's western epic, Horizon: An American Saga.
Her performance as Frances Kittredge received widespread critical praise, standing out amidst the film's mixed reviews. Critics highlighted her "impeccable American accent" and compelling portrayal, with Time magazine noting she was "far and away the best thing" about the project. This acclaim underscores her enduring talent and renewed prominence in the industry.
