On Wednesday, the legendary Shirley MacLaine was spotted having lunch at her favorite restaurant, Kristy's Village Cafe, located near her long-time Malibu, California residence. The eccentric Oscar winner, who turned 92 on April 24, opted for a casual look, wearing a purple cardigan over a blue T-shirt and black trousers. She was accompanied by a mysterious male companion at Trancas Country Market.

Kristy's Village Cafe has previously hosted celebrities such as Adam Sandler, Pierce Brosnan, Michael Madsen, Shannen Doherty, and Brandon Jenner.

Upcoming Projects

On February 19, Deadline reported that MacLaine (born Shirley MacLean Beaty) has signed on to portray Margaret Rey, the creator of Curious George, who discovers an unlikely confidant in Matthew Weiner's upcoming film Margret and Stevie. That same month, the New York Times bestselling author co-starred with Ansel Elgort and Thomas Haden Church in Howard Deutch's New Mexico-set road trip comedy Lucy Boomer, based on the novel by Russell Hill.

It remains unclear when audiences will see MacLaine as Atlantic City widow Clare in Brad Furman's family-funded indie drama People Not Places, which she filmed last summer.

Dance Hall of Fame Honor

The silver-haired actress was honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Dance Hall of Fame in Culver City, California, on December 3. In her acceptance speech, MacLaine said: 'My mother took me to dancing class when I was three because I had weak ankles and I fell in love with it. But here's what it also included - discipline, love of music, a sense of cooperation with other people, being on time. And from that day on, I went to class every day until my 60s. I would have to say that dance, what I've learned being part of it, is why I'm still here.'

The Virginia-born star noted that being recognized for her dancing was 'the most important acknowledgement [she] could have.'

Views on Death and Past Lives

In 2024, MacLaine told CBS Sunday Morning that she is not afraid of dying: 'Oh no, I'm kind of interested in going there! I think [discovering if past lives are real] is a big part of it, yeah. I'm looking forward to being the heaven experience, I really am,' the older sister of Warren Beatty emphasized.

MacLaine loved and left figures such as her What a Way to Go co-star Robert Mitchum, Prime Minister Olof Palme of Sweden, novelist Pete Hamill, and French heartthrob Yves Montand. 'I don't think I was that attractive, no,' the Emmy winner said. 'For a while I [thought], "Oh God, I'm not sexy, attractive!" But then I have my relationships and they do think so.'

Personal Life

MacLaine famously had an open 28-year marriage with the late Steve Parker, whom she divorced in 1982 after welcoming estranged daughter Sachi Parker, who penned a 2013 scathing tell-all titled Lucky Me. The 69-year-old actress welcomed two children - son Frank, 29, and daughter Arin, 27 - during her 18-year marriage to investment banker Frank Murray, which ended in 2011.
