Saffron Barker urged to go to A&E over dilated eye

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Saffron Barker was urged by fans to "run straight to A&E" after revealing that one of her pupils had become extremely dilated. In a TikTok video, the YouTuber asked for help, saying: "Someone please tell me if this is normal, because this is not a contact; this is actually my eye right now."

Fans express concern over prolonged dilation

Following up with a second post, Saffron explained that her eye had been dilated for over 30 hours, with no signs of changing. Rushing to the comments, fans begged the influencer to get down to A&E immediately.

"Please go to A&E, I work in an eye hospital, and this is definitely not normal," wrote one. "I fear you might need to go to A&E… like yesterday," added a second.

Medical professionals weigh in

Meanwhile, a third remarked, "Optician here. You need to go to A&E; it could be a neurological issue and needs to get seen to ASAP." "Girl, you should have gone to hospital hours ago," declared a fourth.

After sparking concern, Saffron confirmed a few hours later that she had been for a check-up. "You're not going to believe it, regarding my eye," she began. "I do, in fact, have a massive update for you guys.

Cause revealed: eye drops were the culprit

"First of all, I just want to say thank you so much for all your love and your concern. This is what my eye is currently looking like; it's definitely a lot bigger, but it's definitely gone down a lot," she said.

"Anyways, after last night's freaking out, I was so worried," she continued. "Turns out, I've been doing it to myself. I have been dilating my eye without realising.

"So the eye drops that the hospital gave me do, in fact, do that to my eye. But no one told me. No one figured to tell me," Saffron noted. "So, I had absolutely zero idea. Even when I went to pick up the eye drops, no one told me."

Clarifying that she had stopped using her eye drops after learning they were the cause, Saffron added that she's not in any pain and hopes her eye returns to normal soon.
