Isla Fisher has spoken about the emotional journey of starting anew following her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen. The couple finalised their divorce earlier this year after quietly separating in 2023.
Fisher, 49, told ELLE Decoration that moving into a new home with her children was a poignant moment. “I had a bit of a cry when my furniture first arrived,” she said. “This was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own.” She described the process of “trying to create a new life from a grassroots level, at least emotionally” as challenging but rewarding.
The actress, known for her role in the Now You See Me films, said she is embracing a quieter lifestyle. “I’m enjoying this new version of my life,” she said. “I don’t need to party in my house anymore. I love to get in the bath. I’ll light some candles, bring in my laptop and put on something on Netflix. That’s as exciting as it gets.”
Fisher and Cohen announced their divorce in June 2025, stating they remain friends and committed to co-parenting their three children. The couple first met in 2001 and married in 2010. In April 2024, they revealed they had separated the previous year.
Earlier this year, Fisher described the divorce as the most difficult thing she has been through, but praised the support of female friends. “I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship,” she said. “I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are.”
Fisher’s next film, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, is set for release on Friday 14 November.
