Former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas has shared the touching signs he believes his late friend Jake Hall has sent him from beyond the grave, following an emotional meeting with Jake's father. The 42-year-old actor, who starred as Jason Grimshaw on the ITV soap, opened up on his podcast At Home With The Thomas Bros about a spiritual awakening after Jake's tragic death in Mallorca, Spain, in May at age 35.
A Sign on the Radio
Thomas revealed that before his death, he and Jake often joked about Jake's faith. However, during a visit with Jake's father, a song came on the radio that changed everything. "The one thing I used to always take the p*** out of Jake for - He used to always mention God... Anyway I went to see his dad, we were having a day together and he said 'I am just so glad Jake was born again', and then on the radio a song came on and it was Born Again. That was him just giving me a little bit of a... 'Just remember all those times you've taken the p*** you're with my dad now', and we had this massive hug," Thomas said.
Looking for Signs
Since that moment, Thomas has been actively looking for signs from Jake. "I know Jake's got that little... There's just something powerful about him," he added. The TOWIE star died following an accident, and Thomas was among the pallbearers who carried the coffin at the funeral last month.
A New Family Bond
Thomas met Jake's family for the first time after his passing and has vowed to protect them forever. "I got there at like 4 o'clock and I probably didn't leave till like 11 at night and it was the most amazing day of my life because we got to connect with all things we both knew about each other, and some of the things that I didn't know that Jake had spoken to his mum about that she then told me and I was like, 'Oh wow this is mad'. I was having the best time," he recalled. "It felt like such an honour to be with them and now I am like 'I've got family for life' I think their biggest worry is that when the dust settles it's just going to be them and they're going to be in their own thoughts but I said, 'Look we are going to do this for life now'. As much as it's the saddest thing in the world that I am never going to see him again I am always going to live through them."
