Television host and producer Ryan Seacrest has embarked on a new fitness regime, hiring a high-profile celebrity trainer to help him add muscle to his frame. This move comes just five months after the 50-year-old sparked concern among his followers with a noticeably thinner appearance.
A New Fitness Chapter
The Wheel of Fortune host showcased his efforts in a video posted last Saturday, where he was seen flexing his biceps during an intense gym session. In the clip, Seacrest performed bicep curls with what appeared to be heavy dumbbells while his new trainer, Dodd Romero, counted out ten repetitions.
Romero is no stranger to shaping celebrity bodies, having previously worked with stars like Lenny Kravitz and Jennifer Lopez. Seacrest, who boasts an impressive 21.5 million social media followers, humorously captioned the video: 'The trick is to wear a T-shirt two sizes too small.'
Mixed Reactions from Followers
The post quickly attracted comments from fans, who expressed a mixture of admiration and concern. While one user, @hqbqwq, praised his 'great biceps', they also cautioned that he was 'getting too thin' and needed to take care of himself.
Other comments were more direct. 'Don't over do it! I'm just being a mom. Think you're great!' wrote user @donjon710. Another follower, @dean_uccelli, simply advised: 'Eat a hamburger dude.' Further concern came from user @angelina19901958, who commented: 'Honey, you need to stop. [You're] looking [emaciated]. Exercise is good but you need to slow it down a bit.'
The most stark observation came from @libbydess, who urged him to 'Try to gain more weight on your face! It looks like skeleton!'
The Drive to Feel 29 Again
This new fitness push aligns with statements Seacrest made last year about his desire to turn back the clock. He publicly declared his intention to do 'anything to make myself feel 29 again'.
In an interview with ET, the Atlanta-born presenter elaborated: 'I'm doing everything I can to make myself feel like I'm not 50. I'm over-exercising, eating better, over-training, lots of muscle recovery, cold plunging, steaming. Anything to make myself feel 29 again!' This regimen follows his adherence to the Mediterranean diet in 2023.
The personal trainer hire and intense focus on fitness also come as Seacrest continues to mourn the loss of his father, Gary, who passed away on October 31. The presenter has previously opened up about his self-image, revealing he weighed 180lbs when he was just 13 and that he 'will always see that little boy when I look in the mirror.'
Looking ahead, Seacrest's busy schedule continues. He is set to host the live ABC special Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve from Manhattan's Times Square on December 31. This event will mark a mini-reunion with his ex-girlfriend, Julianne Hough, who will be co-hosting from Las Vegas.
The pair dated between 2010 and 2013, and there appears to be no bad blood between them. As an executive producer on the show, Seacrest certainly holds hiring power. The 37-year-old Dancing with the Stars host is not the only former flame in his recent past; Seacrest has been single since ending his three-year relationship with Aubrey Paige, founder of Sippin' on Somethin', in April 2024.
Beyond his new role on Wheel of Fortune, Seacrest is also confirmed to return as host for season 24 of ABC's American Idol, which premieres on January 26. He will be joined by judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood.
