Irish actor Ruth Codd, known for her roles in Netflix's The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, has revealed she is recovering after a second below-knee amputation. The 29-year-old, who also appeared on the first series of The Celebrity Traitors, shared the news in a TikTok video on Wednesday.
Codd had her first amputation six years ago following a football injury as a teenager, which led to years of surgeries and chronic pain. In the video, she explained that she had now undergone the same procedure on her left leg. She showed off her new wheelchair, which she named 'Fat Tony', and joked in the caption: 'No legs who dis? #paralympics2026'.
In a recent interview on the YouTube channel FFTV, Codd said she had been told by doctors that her foot was 'never going to get any better'. She had already had all her toes removed in 2021 due to the impact of using crutches for eight years. 'It’s gone past the point where they can kind of do anything about it,' she said.
Codd detailed the recovery process, noting she would have to wait at least a month for the limb to heal before she could be fitted with a prosthetic. She built a following on TikTok during the Covid pandemic, posting comedy sketches and raising disability awareness.
