Florists were busy decorating All Saints' Church in Kemble, Cotswolds, from around 8am on the day before Peter Phillips married Harriet Sperling. The tiny village church was transformed ahead of the royal wedding, which took place on Saturday amid torrential rain and wind.
Senior royals including King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Zara and Mike Tindall, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended the ceremony. Peter's daughters, Savannah and Isla, served as bridesmaids alongside their new stepsister Georgina, protecting Harriet's lace train from the rain.
Local residents revealed that the wedding was a community effort. A husband and wife tasked with bell pulling said Harriet used to live in the village and was 'Christian-minded'. The church had a 150-person capacity, with an altar moved from Ewen chapel to make space. Guests parked at the nearby equestrian centre.
The vicar, known locally as 'DJ Steve' for his musical talents, officiated the ceremony. He was described as a newly appointed vicar, previously a curate in Tetbury, and the youngest the parish has had. Locals also shared rumours that David and Victoria Beckham might attend, though they did not appear.
