James Diggle, 27, of Alundale Road in West Derby, has been charged with four counts of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving following a crash in Huyton, Liverpool, that killed four men last month.

In the early hours of Friday, July 24, Merseyside Police received a report that a black Cupra Formentor had crashed into a lamppost on East Prescot Road. Emergency services attended, but sadly four men died at the scene: Jack Diggle, 23, Benjamin Dooley, 23, Andrew Roberts, 24, and Craig Shackleton-Brady, 26.
Charge and court appearance
On Friday, August 7, James Diggle was charged with four counts of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving. He will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Saturday, August 8.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged following a fatal road traffic collision in Huyton which killed four people last month.
"In the early hours of Friday 24 July, we received a report that a black Cupra Formentor had collided with a lamppost on East Prescot Road.
"Emergency services attended but sadly four men died at the scene – Jack Diggle, 23, Benjamin Dooley, 23, Andrew Roberts, 24, and Craig Shackleton-Brady, 26.
"Today, Friday 7 August, James Diggle, 27 years of Alundale Road in West Derby, has been charged with four counts of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving. He will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court tomorrow, Saturday 8 August.
"As criminal proceedings are now active, we would ask that the public refrain from commenting on, or speculating about, the circumstances of this case online, as this could unintentionally prejudice the judicial process.
"Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the four men who tragically lost their lives and we ask that their privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time."
