Rod Stewart pulled out of a gig over health issues just hours after it was announced that he became a grandad for the sixth time. On Sunday (August 9), Rod's daughter Ruby announced that she gave birth to her second child with her fiance Jake Kalick. Sharing the news on Instagram, Ruby posted a series of photos of her newborn in hospital with the family.
She wrote: “We welcomed our little(big) Levi Rhodes Kalick at 6:58pm on 8/4/26 at 9lbs 20inches … his name Levi means my heart and his arrival has grown our hearts to 10 times the size… Seeing Otis and Levi meet for the first time might have been the greatest experience of my life so far… Otis is already the best big brother, and we are already so in love with this sweet boy… Welcome sweet Levi!”
The post showed Ruby with Otis, three, in her lap as he held his baby brother. Another showed Otis watching over Levi as he slept, as well as one of Jake holding his sons. Commenting on the post, Stewart's ex-wife Rachel Hunter wrote: “Congratulations Ruby. Beautiful.” His current wife Penny Lancaster added: “Precious boy, precious family.”
Family background
Ruby, 39, is Rod's only daughter with Kelly Emberg, an American model who appeared in publications including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. The pair dated from 1983, and split in 1990.
Rod first welcomed his eldest daughter Sarah Streeter, who was raised by adoptive parents, with ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey. He has daughter Kimberly and son Sean with his ex-wife Alana Stewart, to whom he was married from 1979 until 1984. Additionally, he has daughter Renee and son Liam with Rachel Hunter, to whom he was married from 1990 until 2006. The singer also has sons Alastair and Aiden with his wife Penny Lancaster, who he married in 2007.
Aside from Ruby's sons Otis and Levi, Rod is a grandfather to Delilah, Louie, Elsie and one of Kimberly's children, whose name she hasn't shared publicly.
Postponement announced
Just two hours after Ruby's good news was made public, it was announced that Rod was postponing a show in Cincinnati due to a minor medical procedure. Due to occur that night, the new date for the show, which serves as part of his One Last Time tour, is yet to be announced.
Riverbend Music Center shared on Instagram: “Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart's performance tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed. Rescheduling is currently underway, with additional information to follow on Tuesday. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled date. Rod is expected to make a quick recovery and looks forward to returning to Cincinnati.”
Beginning in 2024, the One Last Time tour is billed as an end to his large-scale world tours. Despite being extended by over two years, Rod has shown no signs of bringing the tour to an end any time soon. Last year saw Rod play the Glastonbury legend's slot, where he belted out his biggest hits to the Worthy farm crowd. Also known as the Teatime Slot, Cat Stevens, Diana Ross and Kylie Minogue have all proved why they're legends in recent years in front of tens of thousands of people.
Fans were left fearing for Rod's health when cancelled a number of his shows just weeks before Glastonbury after being struck with a bad dose of the flu. These shows included his gigs in Nevada and California.
