Rob Lowe's niece Fiona remembered in private ceremony

A private ceremony honouring Fiona Hepler Lowe, the 13-year-old niece of actor Rob Lowe, was held by her family over the weekend, one month after her death.

Fiona's parents, Chad Lowe and Kim Painter, announced in September that their daughter had died. The Los Angeles medical examiner's office later confirmed her cause of death as suicide.

The ceremony was attended only by close friends and family, according to PEOPLE.

Family's tribute to Fiona

Announcing her death on September 29, the family said in a statement: “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives,” the statement continued.

“If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988,” the statement concluded.

Details of her death and family support

Fiona was pronounced dead at 1.14am on Tuesday, September 29 at a local hospital.

A source previously told the outlet that Rob Lowe had been among the family members supporting his brother following Fiona's death, describing the brothers as “very close”.

“Their family and friends have rallied around Chad and Kim,” the source said. “Everyone’s heartbroken.”

“They already went through so much with losing their home last year,” the source added. “Right now, the focus is on being there for them in any way they can.”

Last year, the family lost their home in the January 2025 Pacific Palisades Fire. In an Instagram post at the time, Chad praised his daughters' resilience to the loss of their home, calling their attitude “nothing short of remarkable”.

Fiona, the second daughter of Chad and Kim, was born on November 16, 2012. Her middle name, Hepler, was Lowe's late mother's maiden name and is also his brother Rob Lowe's middle name.
