Rob Kardashian made a rare public appearance on Tuesday night to celebrate his sister Kim Kardashian's birthday at Baldi restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. The 39-year-old, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since 2016, was seen looking happy and well at the family gathering.
Rob joined his sisters Kim, 46, Khloe, 42, and Kourtney, 47, at the luxury venue. Photos from the evening show the only Kardashian brother wearing a black jacket, jeans and a cap, while his sisters wore more glamorous outfits, including an olive green shimmery dress worn by the birthday girl.
Years out of the limelight
Rob stepped back from public life in 2016, saying at the time that he did not want to "put himself out there if he was not comfortable with himself." Since then, he has rarely been seen in public or on social media.
Earlier this year, Rob made a brief appearance on the Kardashians' show, joining the family alongside Kris and Caitlyn Jenner at the family's former home for a farewell dinner before Kris sold the property.
Sisters welcome his return
While the sisters were thrilled to have him back on the show, they warned fans he would be doing it at his own pace. "Yes, guys, you heard right. I know everyone is hoping that Rob comes back to the show, and trust me, we are too," Khloe said. "Rob is doing well, he's alive. The conspiracies run wild. One of the main ones is that he lives with me. He's in our shadows and we don't want to have him around us. He's not a miserable person who lives under a bridge… We're totally fine."
Kim also added of her younger brother: "I do miss having him on the show, 'cause he's just so funny. It would be great if he would regularly be back on. That's the goal."
Why Rob stepped back
Rob previously appeared on sister Khloe's podcast, explaining his decision to step away from filming. "I love filming if it's positive and if it's natural and I'm feeling good about myself. Then, of course, and I'm comfortable. I'm not gonna just put myself out there if I'm not comfortable with myself. I haven't been comfortable with myself in years," he shared. "And I choose my own happiness and peace [over] just filming for somebody who doesn't do anything for me in my personal life."
