Comedy legend Ricky Gervais, 64, has amassed a staggering net worth of nearly £20 million, according to reports. The star, known for creating BBC's The Office and Netflix's After Life, has seen his wealth grow significantly in recent years, with his film production company Red Lion 100 Ltd valued at over £19.8 million as of March 2025.
Gervais's latest Netflix special, Ricky Gervais: Mortality, was released on December 30, recorded at London's Palladium theatre. The special, described by Netflix as a 'brutally honest' take on life and death, marks his fourth stand-up collaboration with the streaming platform, following Humanity (2018), SuperNature (2022), and Armageddon (2023). He is also working on a new animated series, Alley Cats, set for release in 2026.
Despite his professional success, Gervais has chosen a different path in his personal life. He has been with his partner, author Jane Fallon, since 1982, when they met at University College London. The couple have never married, a decision Gervais has described as 'too much hassle'. In a 2010 interview with The Times, he explained, 'We are married for all intents and purposes... but there's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God.'
The couple also decided against having children. Gervais told the Radio Times in 2022 that one reason is 'there is enough' people in the world. He previously confessed to Ellen DeGeneres that he would be overly anxious as a parent, saying, 'I'd worry sick about a baby. I have a cat and I worry about that.'
Fallon, 64, initially worked in television production on shows like This Life and Teachers before switching to writing. Her debut novel, Getting Rid of Matthew, topped the UK bestseller list in 2007, and she has since published several critically acclaimed books. The couple live in Hampstead, London.
