In 2010, Vernon Kay, then 52, publicly apologized to Tess Daly on his Radio 1 show after it emerged he had been texting Rhian Sugden following a meeting in a Bolton club. Kay has consistently maintained that the messages were flirty banter and that he never acted inappropriately.

Earlier this year, Kay announced his split from Tess Daly, 57, after 22 years of marriage. The divorce announcement in May sparked renewed interest from book publishers in Sugden.
