Ramona's Story
Ramona is found living by herself in a remote house on a Canadian island, a property once owned by the grandfather of Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin), the show's adopted teenage protagonist. After Annie and her twin brother Connor (Keen Ruffalo) inherit the island following their grandfather's death, Annie's quest to uncover her heritage leads her to Ramona, who turns out to be her secret sister.

Creator Megan Park explained her motivation for developing a "queer" teen drama, telling Out.com: "It just feels like queer representation just makes sense." She added, "It felt authentic to these actors and the story, and it just kind of feels like a no-brainer to me. I’m just always trying to make things feel authentic and character-driven first and foremost." Park also noted, "With the show, it’s an opportunity to weave in just a layer of nuance with what is hopefully just the reality of the world today."
Who Plays Ramona?
Ramona is portrayed by 24-year-old Amélie Hoeferle, born in Germany and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Hoeferle has built a resume with credits including Night Swim and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. She recently appeared in Eddington alongside Emma Stone, Austin Butler, and Pedro Pascal. Sterling Point represents a significant milestone, bringing her to a global audience on a major streaming platform.
Hoeferle has expressed her enthusiasm for the show on Instagram, sharing behind-the-scenes content and a tribute to her co-stars. "Summer 2025 is seared into my mind," she wrote.
