The Princess of Wales hosted her first garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace alongside Prince William, impressing royal fans with her ability to walk effortlessly in stilettos on muddy grass. Kate, 44, wore a Self Portrait dress and a matching hat paired with Ralph Lauren heels, gliding across the lawn without sinking.
Attendees and online commentators marvelled at her poise, with one writing: 'Walking on grass in stilettos is not for the weak… but Princess Catherine makes it look effortless.' Another noted: 'She does make it look like she is gliding. Such a classy woman.' Some speculated she used 'heel stoppers' or walked on the balls of her feet.
This is not the first time the Princess has showcased her heel-walking skills. In January, she ran in heeled navy boots to greet royal fans in Scotland, and after giving birth to Prince Louis in 2018, she played sports in heels. In October, she went viral for descending narrow stairs backwards in four-inch stilettos at an army base.
The garden party honoured those linked to the couple's patronages and projects. Guests included Rhian Mannings of 2wish, supporting bereaved families, and Sam Stables of We Are Farming Minds, addressing mental health in farming. The event also marked Kate's return to international travel after her cancer diagnosis in 2024, following a trip to Italy.
