Prince Harry has sparked a furious backlash after revealing his occupation in a new podcast interview, with many royal fans describing the moment as 'cringeworthy'. The Duke of Sussex appeared on the latest episode of Joe Marler's podcast, Joe Marler Will See You Now, filmed during his visit to the UK last week.
Harry's Occupation Answer Causes Stir
During a round of quick-fire questions, Harry was asked about his full name, star sign, and occupation. After a brief pause, he answered: 'Full-time dad, British army veteran, Prince of England, Duke.' The response immediately sparked debate among fans, with many taking to social media to express their views.
One user on X wrote: 'No no, love. You quit the Prince job. You might still have the title, for now, but it’s not your occupation. Neither is Duke. Full time stay at home Dad sounds about right.' Another noted: 'His job is prince of England yet he lives in Montecito CA in the USA.'
Criticism Over Use of Royal Titles
Although Harry stepped down as a senior working member of the Royal Family in 2020, he retains his royal titles by birth. However, he has agreed not to use them for commercial purposes. Critics questioned what his role as 'Prince of England' entails, with one user asking: 'What EXACTLY do you do in your occupation as Prince of England?' Another added: 'They should have asked him for his job description as Duke.'
A fifth user commented: 'Since he megxited, [he] ISNT a Duke that was a WORKTITLE he gave up - No official use. That guy is in serious DENIAL about his Resignation.' Others called the interview 'cringe' and 'so lame', with one saying: 'It’s the cringiest thing ever.'
Harry Speaks About Fatherhood and Diana
Elsewhere in the interview, Harry spoke movingly about showing affection to his children, just as his mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, did to him. He described how Diana would squeeze him and his brother, Prince William, 'as tight as possible'. Harry said: 'The resilience of kids is amazing and the way they view life is so incredibly refreshing. And if a day is hard, one thing I will do is always squeeze my kids that extra, extra tight.'
