Phillip Andrew, known for playing Merrick Baliton (the Lunar Wolf Ranger) in Power Rangers Wild Force, has undergone emergency surgery after suffering a "serious brain injury." The 48-year-old actor has woken up after the procedure and is showing signs of recovery.
Agency Confirms Surgery and Recovery
His talent agency, Heroic Talent & Appearances, released a statement saying: "Phillip suffered a serious brain injury that required emergency surgery." The statement added: "We are grateful to share that Phillip is now awake and showing encouraging signs of improvement. While this is a positive step forward, Phillip still has a long road ahead of him."
The agency continued: "We ask that fans, friends, and colleagues continue to keep him and his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers as he navigates this difficult time." They also requested that everyone respect Phillip and his family's privacy while they focus on his health and recovery.
Fan Events Cancelled
As a result, Andrew has had to drop out of all scheduled fan events and convention appearances. In a previous statement, the agency said: "Heroic Talent & Appearances regrets to announce that Phillip Andrew has experienced a medical emergency and will be cancelling all upcoming appearances for the foreseeable future."
Andrew starred in 40 episodes of Wild Force during its one and only season, which aired in 2002. He mostly retired from acting after Power Rangers, and his most recent credit is a mugger in an episode of the 2006 sitcom What I Like About You.
