Peter Crouch chant voted funniest football song

A chant celebrating Peter Crouch's towering height has been voted the nation's funniest football chant, according to a study by Heineken UK. The classic chant “He’s tall, he’s red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Crouch!” topped the list, beating World Cup favourites Sweet Caroline and Vindaloo.

The study found that fans also love to belt out “Rice, Rice Baby” in reference to Three Lions hero Declan Rice, and “Southgate you’re the one” to the tune of Whole Again, even though he is no longer the manager. The chant culture extends beyond the stands, with half of fans admitting they have sung football songs in both the pub and the stadium.

Pub Atmosphere Matches Stadium

Craig Woolley of Heineken UK, which is encouraging chants in pubs across Britain, said: “A packed pub on matchday is about as close as you can get to being in the stadium - sometimes it’s even louder. From the first chant to the final whistle, pubs give fans that unbeatable sense of togetherness.”
