Perth Dancer Defends Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Look

Faith Ward, a Perth native and the first New Zealander to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader (DCC), has addressed the controversy surrounding her decision to wear her hair in a ponytail instead of the team's signature long, curled locks.

Speaking to ABC Perth, Ward explained that DCC director Kelli Finglass suggested the updo after noticing Ward's hair was sweaty during rehearsals. Finglass later compared the look to Ariana Grande, requesting a longer, blonder ponytail for game days.

Ward is awaiting final confirmation after the team's professional headshots, known as cameo day. She remains open to the possibility of reverting to the traditional hairstyle if required.

This is not the first time a DCC has deviated from the norm; second-year veteran Ava Lahey was previously allowed to wear her hair straight after curls failed to hold during training camp.
