Perrie Edwards has opened up about her strained relationship with former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson, confessing that a reconciliation is now unlikely. The singer, who rose to fame alongside Jesy, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock after winning The X Factor in 2011, admitted that Jesy's recent documentary caused her to withdraw from rebuilding their friendship.
Perrie Edwards on Jesy Nelson: 'It Boils My Blood'
Speaking on Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast, Perrie discussed how she has written about 'friend breakups' in her recent music. She explained that what upsets her most is when the other person doesn't take accountability. 'That boils my blood,' she said. 'I am not blaming everything on you, but take some accountability for your actions and realise you were difficult.'
Reflecting on Jesy's Exit from Little Mix
Jesy left the group in December 2020, citing the pressure of the band impacting her mental health. Perrie reflected on the final months of Jesy's time in the band, admitting she maybe 'could have done more' but felt she was doing enough at the time. She also noted the struggle of trying to comfort someone who isn't seeing the love you're trying to give.
Perrie added: 'I thought that I tried everything, so then to sit there in further interviews and discuss it publicly and be like, "I wasn't supported" – you were though.'
Will There Be a Little Mix Reunion?
When asked about a potential reunion with Jesy, Perrie was candid: 'Part of me wanted to until the documentary, and then part of me withdrew again.' She explained that while she is not a horrible person, she can cut people off if they upset her in a way that makes it hard to go back. 'I don't have the capacity for someone like that in my life anymore,' she said. 'As much as I will always love her, I don't think I can hack that energy in my space.'
